This is a blog about us Honeys. We've been married for 6 years, live in Littleton, CO, have a Chihuahua named Dobby, a Rat Terrier named Scarlett, three awesome cats (all referred to as our Furry Kids!) and some fish.
In November 2007 I was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer of the liver) and nave been undergoing chemotherapy since December '07 & Proton Radiation Therapy at M.D. Anderson in Houston, TX from December '08 - February '09, and then back on eternal chemo until we get the tumor to shrink away from one salvageable vein in the liver so that it can be surgically removed. We use this blog to keep family and friends updated on our struggles, loves, challenges, celebrations, goals, ideas and the general daily grind!

It's All OK

Things went well today at the doctor's. No new growth. No spreading. Nothing. No change. Except that now we can sort of see the direct line where the radiation beam started and ended across the upper view of my liver! It was really kinda cool. Granted, it was three zillion shades of gray to keep track of but still, we saw it!

Liver's still swollen from the radiation but it's improving. Doc says that by the time we get to Curley at MD Anderson at the end of the month it should be fine to look at again.

I start chemo on Friday. Back in the saddle (or dragged behind it, however you choose to look at it!).

I *am* glad to hear that there's been no spreading or new growth. That's EXCELLENT news!!!! Adding the fact that your liver keeps on doing its thing despite the cancer is even more excellent. Now let that CAKE go kick some cancer ass, is what I say!

As always, we pray for you and Pete at your mom's church, and at the sessions of the new EfM group.

Hey Abbey - I've been checking your blog for what seems like forever to find out your news. I am so happy that nothing has spread, and am soooooo happy for you and Peter. Keep believing in your and Peter's decision making and in the medical personnel who are surrounding you. And know that your friends and family surround you with thoughts, prayers, well-wishes, love and support. Now you guys should go out and CELEBRATE this good news!!

Love,
Betsy and Scott, too :)

Yeah our Abbey-Gal...what incredible news...but then your wonderful power of positive thinking could bring about nothing but the best. You are in control, and now you are back in the saddle and riding that old "C" hard. As the old saying goes (somewhat modified), ride it hard, tell it what you want it to do, kick it in the but, never give it another chance, and put it away exhausted, wet, tired and ready to give up. YOU ARE IN CHARGE - YOU HAVE THE POWER - YOU MAKE THE DECISIONS - AND YOU HAVE A LIFE TO LIVE THAT IS CANCER FREE AND FULL OF LIFE, HAPPINESS, DREAMS, CHILDREN, GOALS, PRETTY GARDENS TO TEND, AND LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. XOXOXO Carol
